I’ve Hit a Roadblock

I have come to a roadblock with my current song article. I am waiting for permission from the music publisher to use the lyrics in my article. So until then, my latest article is waiting for me to press the publish button. I am sorry to you for the long delay since my last post.

After dealing with the need to obtain copyright permission, I have decided to change my current Sing Praises list to include only songs in the Public Domain. So be sure and look for the new list I will be posting in a few days.

Since I’m dealing with an extremely minor stall in my blog plans, I thought I would take this opportunity to discuss roadblocks. Have you ever dealt with a roadblock in your life? Sometimes dealing with life’s roadblocks can be very frustrating and disheartening. It’s not easy to see the blessing of a roadblock in our lives. Most of time, I find myself wanted to push past the roadblock and continue down my own path. And I’ve certainly been guilty of doing that, but it’s never worked out well for me. But, when I’ve allowed myself to be redirected because of a roadblock it always worked out better than I even imagined.

I recently had a friend share a story about a time in her life how God flooded a road to change her plans. She admitted she didn’t take the change well and still tried to force her way. But in the end she accepted it and trusted that God was taking care of this situation. He did and she was blessed in multiple ways because she allowed God’s will to be done rather than her own.

Like my friend, many times we want to find a way around the roadblock no matter how difficult the new road may be. We want to stay our course and ignore the obstacle in our way. As a Christian, though, we need to remember God knows best. We need to submit to His will and let go of our selfish desires. Because in the end, our blessings will be more than we can imagine.

When we hit a roadblock in our lives, we can fight it or accept it. It’s definitely a time we need to pause and reflect. God may very well be trying to redirect you from a detrimental path.

“Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.” Isaiah 55:8

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.” 1 Peter 3:17
