Give Thanks

November’s here and that means Thanksgiving’s in a few short weeks. I really enjoy Thanksgiving. It’s a pretty low key holiday. While there is the big delicious meal that requires planning, prepping and cooking, Thanksgiving’s doesn’t have a flurry of activities that October brings with pumpkin carving, hayrides, bonfires, and costume parties or the frenzy of holiday shopping, gift wrapping, and tree trimming of Christmas. Basically it’s a pretty simple day of sharing a meal with loved ones and reflecting on life’s blessings.

Since it falls between the busy, fun-filled October festivities and the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, Thanksgiving’s a day that sometimes gets overlooked. But, I believe if we give some attention to the Thanksgiving holiday, it could have a powerful impact on our lives.

It’s a time when we can embrace a thankful heart. Now, let me clarify to say that I believe that being thankful should go beyond the Thanksgiving day. Thankfulness should be a daily attitude, but we can use the Thanksgiving holiday as an opportunity to be a shining light to others by expressing our gratitude of what the Lord does for us.

Now I know this is certainly not an original idea, but I’ve wanted to do this for several years. So this year I’ve decided to set a goal to post something I’m thankful for each day during November. If your up for the challenge, then join me for 30 Days of Thanks.

“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Lots of love to you and yours,

Nicki
