I am grateful for the gift of prayer. I’m ashamed to say that prayer is one of those things that I take for granted so easily and don’t utilize nearly enough. But like God, prayer is always there and blesses me daily. Prayer makes my life better.
I am who I am because of the prayers of my mother, grandparents, brother, family, and friends. I will never know all the prayers petitioned on my behalf, but I am forever grateful for them.
Prayer is a powerful resource that I may never fully understand. The strength of my marriage is due in part for the prayers said by my husband and me. Prayer comforted me during my pregnancies and gave me the blessing of my children. With prayer I made it through loss of jobs, illnesses, and deaths of loved ones. In my life, I’ve needed prayer like I’ve needed food and water – for survival.
Today, I give thanks for prayer. I thank God that He saw fit to provide me with a means to speak to Him. I am grateful that God provides me with the Holy Spirit to help me in my weakness and intercedes on my behalf. (Romans 8:26-27)
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27
“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:12
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14
