So each day I try to start it with meditating on a scripture. Today’s scripture was prompted by an Instagram post of my friend – Tangie T Woods. She has a great encouragement blog that you can check out here Mrs. T’s Corner.
The verse she shared comes from Romans – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
I remember the first retreat that my husband and I planned used Romans 12:2 as the theme. The speaker, John Thomas, a friend of mine from my teen years did a wonderful of discussing this verse as well as including Romans 12:1. I really appreciated his thoughts on both of these verses and they’re influential message.
Over the years, whenever I read either of these verses, my mind reflects on the lesson of the combined verses. The two verses provide a powerful message that we should prepare our body and our mind for God. As a christian, I need to have my whole self – body and mind prepared for God’s service. Just like we are to love God (Matthew 22:37) with our whole being, He also wants us to serve Him with our whole being.
‘Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Matthew 22:37
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2
Until next time,
